What dewatering costs in Central Florida
The whole table, published. These are the same numbers we quote from on the phone, with the drivers that move a job toward the top or bottom of each range.

The five drivers behind every range
Depth below the water table. Every foot of drawdown adds pumping work, and the 15 foot suction limit is a hard line: past it, a second stage roughly doubles the system on the deep section.
Soil. Clean sand drains fast and prices low. Fine sugar sand needs tight wellpoint spacing. Organic muck, common on former farmland around Apopka, drains slowly and clogs screens, stretching both duration and price.
Discharge distance and route. Fifty feet of hose to a vegetated area is cheap. Hundreds of feet to the nearest legal discharge point, with settlement and turbidity control, is a real line item. Tight urban sites sometimes truck water.
Duration. Setups are one-time; pump weeks recur. A slipped pour or a slow inspection costs rental blocks, which is why our rental line includes maintenance and fuel so slipped schedules at least do not cost breakdowns.
Season. The summer wet season raises the water table several feet across Central Florida. The same excavation can be a low-range job in April and a mid-range job in August.

Cost questions
Why do dewatering quotes vary so much between contractors?
Because most quotes price the unknown. A contractor who has not seen your boring log pads the number for the soil he might meet. Published ranges with named drivers shrink the padding: you can see that a 12 foot cut in fine sand with a long discharge run sits high in the range before anyone visits.
Is the permit included in these prices?
Preparing and filing the FDEP Dewatering Generic Permit notice and setting up the required turbidity controls is included in our setups. If a project needs more, like SJRWMD consumptive use review on a very large extraction, that is scoped and named separately before work starts.
What is the cheapest way to dewater a small excavation?
If the inflow is slow, a sump setup from $1,500 with a week of pump rental beats everything. The mistake that costs money is forcing a sump to do a wellpoint job: when fine sand boils into the pit, you pay for the sump, then the delay, then the wellpoints anyway.
Do these prices hold in the wet season?
The table holds year round; where your job lands inside a range moves with conditions. June through September raises the water table and inflow across Central Florida, pushing drawdown times and pump sizes up. A dry season trench that prices low can price mid range in August.
